Shiraz International Airport is designed to redefine the internal relations of the airport so that two independent spaces exist for incoming and outgoing passengers, with the drive-through services in between. After check-in, departing passengers reach their gate halls through an air bridge on the riding route — the connecting line between the exit and entrance halls — while arriving passengers leave through a separate space.
On a larger scale the airport is like a migrating bird sitting on the shore of Maharloo Salt Lake: its configuration and form are inspired by migratory birds, and the roof takes the shape of a bird's beak in flight. The 1.5 m space structure sits on tree-shaped columns that also house the hot and cold installations; the linear form allows four gate halls.
